Micro Fiction – The Wait

Micro Fiction Wait

The dawning dusk always makes her pensive about life’s cherished moments and each swing of that rocking chair makes her smile, remembering those enchanting memories of him. She has lost count of the hours she has been sitting there waiting for his return, remembering those passionate and sensuous moments of togetherness when his caressing fingers would explore every curve of her body, discovering those erotic zones where he would eventually lose himself – the soul-searching sojourn which would begin with the physical pleasure and culminate into the ultimate platonic ecstasy.

While she continues to seek solace in those past moments of love and belonging, the sound of the ringing doorbell disrupts her thoughts whilst elating her spirits, for her prolonged wait would soon end reuniting her with the love of her life, who will not only complete her but will also transform her yearning desires to tender loving memories – afresh and anew. However, the elation soon melts as she opens the door and the presence of those red lipstick marks on his neck yet again acquaints her with that melancholic realization that her wait is far from being over as yet and there exist some more dusks before the dawn finally dwells upon her.

She feels a strong urge to take him in her arms and embrace so that none could come in between but those deriding lipstick marks ridicule her and she instead re-unites with that swinging chair amidst those dangling thoughts with a firm belief in her heart that her wait will be over, one fine day and he will return to her, one fine day.
